Raspberry Pi + LEGO = Weasley clock

I started reading the Harry Potter books for the first time recently (I know) and liked the idea of creating a working version of the Weasley’s clock that shows where everyone is.

It turns out other people had made digital versions but they used LEDs rather than an actual clock mechanism. I had a bunch of LEGO motors lying around so I decide to make it a LEGO project and used the BrickPi to connect my Raspberry Pi B+ model to the LEGO Mindstorms motors.

My location is checked using my smartphone’s GPS as set on IFTTT. I set up rules for entering or exiting certain areas (e.g. arriving at work). The rules involve sending data that’s used by a script on the Pi to turn the clock to the correct position to reflect my location.
